A New Standard
of Luxury There are a number of condominiums currently in development across New York City that will combine the very best of modern and classical luxury living. In the process, some claim, they are creating a new, higher definition of luxury. 995 Park Avenue is perhaps the most exclusive of the new apartment buildings currently under construction. The smallest of the condos will be four bedroom, five bath affairs and will be sold for $10.5 million a piece. The larger units will have eight bedrooms and sell for $35 million. Few buildings will be able to compete with 955's location, across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a short walk from central park. However, for those more interested in an emphasis on nature, the Superior Ink condos that are currently under construction may provide a better fit. The renovated building and assortment of adjacent buildings will be composed of 65 condos and 7 town homes. The building, located across the street from the Hudson river, will be a LEED-certified “green” building. Private gardens and rooftop terraces will add to the feeling of nature that is, to say the least, rare within city limits. Adjacent to the tower will be the seven Bethune Street town homes. The town homes will feature a number of the new single family homes, which have become an exceptionally rare commodity in the city. The Centurion Condominiums are another first-rate choice for those seeking luxury living environments free of the usual spacial constraints imposed by most New York City developers. Many of the thirty-one different layouts include 17-foot ceilings, an opulent terrace and large glass windows that accentuate the feeling of openness. Each apartment boasts a master bath and adjoining powder room, teak floors and a large kitchen with walnut cabinets and glass counter tops. 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units are available for occupancy as of December of 2008. Sales prices range form $1.9 million to $10 million. 240 Park Avenue South offers a number of luxury apartments with a similar feeling of spaciousness. One of the penthouses, for instance, boasts not only its own terrace, but its own private pool. Not surprisingly, it carries a price tag of $10 million.
